School ´´Mihai Viteazul´´ is situated in Alexandria , a small town in the south of Romania, 80 km far away from Bucharest , the capital of Romania. It has a newly built buiding . Precisely , it was built in 1990, after the revolution that took place in December, 1989.It is the best estate school in town, and also in the county of Teleorman, because of its excellent results in maths, romanian and foreign languages, English and French. One of our students is already a member of the national olympics mathematics team .In the study of foreign languages , our students are interested in Cambridge exams , considering them a real opportunity to develop their communicative skills.

The school has a staff consisting of 50 teachers and 650 pupils. The school consists of a of a primary school, for children aged 7-10 and a gymnasium or lower secondary school, for childen aged 10-14.

In our school all the children belong to the christian ortodox religion but also we have a few catholics or protestants. We do not have students from other countries because most of our pupils are emigrating to the developed countries in order to find a better paid job.

We have a great support from the children´s parents who want to provide all the best facilities for a high quality education. The school is equipped with modern devices for developing a modern teaching.

Our students and also their teachers are glad to participate in the the project, even they do not have a financial support from the European Commision but because they are willing to discover Europe by all its faces , the children´s parents support their activities in order to get good results in the new project and very important for them, to learn something new and useful from the experience they will share with other partners in the project.

The Pleckgate High School Mathematics and Computing College is a school comprising 1400 pupils and 177 staff (teaching and non-teaching), situated on the northern outskirts of Blackburn with Darwen and serves the communities on the northern edge of the town. We are a multi-cultural school with most of our pupils from an Asian heritage background, with family connections to India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Many of their families moved to Blackburn during the boom in the cotton industry in the 1950's and 60's.

Our school makes good progress considering many of our pupils are from disadvantaged backgrounds and speak English as a second language.

In September 2005 we achieved specialist status in Mathematics & Computing which has resulted in refurbishment of all areas of the school and investment in up-to-date technologies to improve the quality of learning. We have interactive whiteboards in all classrooms, computer suites and videoconferencing facilities in the school library.

In September 2011 we moved into a new school building, built with the funding from the government's 'Building Schools for the Future' programme. Some of the exciting changes that have taken place include a new curriculum delivery model with 'Zones' linking up subjects for even wider and more flexible learning, hi tech new facilities and ultra modern classrooms

We are very keen to participate in this project as we are looking for further opportunities for students to develop their awareness of other faiths, promoting tolerance and community cohesion. With many of our students being from the Muslim faith, it will broaden their knowledge and skills to work with pupils from other faiths and cultures. We are also keen to develop new international links as part of delivering the global dimension within the school curriculum.

The Publiczne Gimnazjum Katolickie im. sw.Stanisawa Kostki, Catholic Lower Secondary school was founded in September 2007 and this is a state school. Being a Catholic school doesn´t mean that we have more religion lessons than other schools. We have two lessons a week like all state schools in Poland. Catholic means for us that we want to be professional , we want to do our best - teachers to teach and students to learn! Pastoral work is based on Christianity values.

The school building is very old, built after the war in the 1950s. When we got it, it was very dilapidated. We´ve put technological tools in our classes such as computers, projectors and screens and there is access to internet in every classroom, however there is much more to do and the school is still in the process of renovation.

Our school is situated in the old part of the city Poznan. This part doesn´t belong to the disadvantaged areas but , like in every school, there are pupils with economic and social problems, who are supported through being provided with free meals and resources. There are also pupils with additional learning needs. There are some students with dyslexia and dysgraphia. All the pupils are going to take part in the project.

Accent Praktijkonderwijs Nijkerk is a school for Protestant 'Praktijkonderwijs', a school for 'practical education'. Our school provides education for youngsters between the ages of 12 to 18 years. Our type of school is designed for pupils who are not able to follow one of the regular kinds of secondary education, because of learning arrears and learning difficulties so our pupils all have Special Educational Needs. At this moment we have 250 pupils and 45 staff.

Our school prepares the students for independent living, working and recreation and prepares them to have an active social role as a citizen in the community. We don't see and treat the pupils as 'pupils with learning disabilities' but as 'pupils with opportunities, who learn in a different way'. A great part of these opportunities we can provide in our education. Our education follows the needs of the student: every student has as much as possible his or her own individual programme, tuned into the possibilities and wishes of the student.

To reach the targets there is a lot of attention in our education for: adapted theoretical education (Dutch, mathematics, etc.), personality development, social skills and preparing for the labour market. Beside the theoretical and practical lessons(painting, cooking, processing wood and metal, textile, laying out of gardens, etc.) there is an educational programme around orientation for jobs and internship aimed at the achievement of employment skills and a successful participation on the labour market.

We use computer assisted learning. We are participating in a pilot project concerning a digital programme in which more and more theory and practical exercises will be inserted and which gives the students the possibility to make a digital portfolio. Besides that we have the availability of digital whiteboards in every classroom. We have a small film studio in our school, which the pupils use to make there own monthly journal for all schools for 'praktijkonderwijs' in Holland (still in it's infancy).

Our intention is to let as many pupils take part in the project in any way. We expect our students to explore other religions and cultures, increasing their tolerance, respect for others and being aware of life outside their own country. This project will also encourage improvement in the English language and fits perfectly with one of the main goals of our school: to became a successful citizen.... a successful European citizen!

The 2nd High School of Larissa is a central one and the most populated High school in Larissa. There is a rather small percentage of students from an immigration background, with family connections to Albania, Bulgaria and Romania. The majority of students are greek Orthodox but there are also some Muslims and Catholics. English, French, German and Italian are being taught as foreign languages. All the B. Grade students have been provided notebooks so as to be accustomed to e-books.

We consider social and belief tolerance essential for our culture and community peace and expect participation to the project to improve students' awareness in other religions and cultures.

The Walter-Mohr-Realschule is a secondary school with 4 different profiles such as math-science, economics, languages and handicrafts.

The Realschule Traunreut in Germany is the official coordinating school for the EmfE Project.

Most of our pupils have a migration background. They are often from non-European countries. Therefore they come from various socioeconomic backgrounds. Now living in a country of the European community there is a lack of European identity. Even some of the German families do not consider themselves as European.

Our school wishes to develop a European cooperation with countries because our pupils are not familiar with the diversity of European cultures and religions. This project would allow them to open their minds and question their own culture as well as establish their own identity and knowledge in religions.

The English language is an important language to communicate within the European Community and we will also focus on improving the spoken and written English of our pupils and teachers.
